In 2006, Simon and Noven Rollinson moved to Rabaul with their four young children and set to work from the family home overlooking the Simpson harbour with Mount Tavurvur erupting nearby. Over the years, they discovered that one project often led to another, creating a research and development continuum that has facilitated the creation of six matching tool kits designed to empower sustainable forestry actions. Over 3,000 resources in 750 folders are now available online for free.<\/p>\n
Initially, information and communication activities were project-based, as the PIP team developed and tested the tool kits with project partners and beneficiaries. Today, an online communication strategy enables us to reach our target audiences throughout Papua New Guinea, with ongoing support from a growing crowd of donors at home and abroad.<\/p>\n

As co-founder, Noven plays a key role in ensuring the PIP team stays focused on the PIP mission statement, working alongside our partners in East New Britain Province. Likewise, she is also an active member of the Kuragaga Co-cathedral community in Rabaul.<\/p>\n

Simon left England in 1987 and has been working in PNG since 1993. He holds a BSc. in Resource & Environmental Management from the Australian National University and values teamwork and two-way communication. In addition to his managerial duties, Simon works as project consultant and partnerships builder. He is thankful that PIP’s evolution has been both transformational and unexpected.<\/p>\n
